The AHEAD Framework – How We Go AHEAD

Everything we do at The Amara Centre is guided by our AHEAD Framework – five principles that shape how we work, how we support people affected by cancer and how we respond to financial hardship caused by cancer.

Together, these pillars reflect our commitment to access, hope, education, advocacy and dignity, while keeping people affected by cancer at the heart of our work.

A – Access

We believe that people affected by cancer should be able to access the care and support they need without financial hardship creating additional barriers.

Through financial support and advocacy, we seek to help reduce some of the barriers that can arise following a cancer diagnosis.

H – Hope

A cancer diagnosis can bring uncertainty, fear and financial pressure.

We believe that timely and meaningful support can help people feel less alone and give them greater hope during a difficult period.

E – Education

We believe that greater understanding of the financial impact of cancer can help individuals, communities and organisations recognise the challenges people may face.

We are committed to sharing relevant information and raising awareness about cancer-related financial hardship and the support available.

A – Advocacy

Drawing on lived experience, we seek to raise awareness of the financial hardship caused by cancer and encourage meaningful conversations about gaps in support.

Through advocacy and community engagement, we aim to highlight the realities faced by people affected by cancer and encourage better understanding and support.

D – Dignity

Every person affected by cancer deserves to be treated with respect, compassion and dignity.

We are committed to providing support without judgement and to recognising the financial and practical pressures that can affect a person’s wellbeing and quality of life.

Looking AHEAD

The AHEAD Framework is more than a set of principles – it is the foundation of how The Amara Centre approaches its work.

Whether we are providing financial support, raising awareness, advocating for people affected by cancer or using lived experience to inform our work, these five pillars guide our approach.

Together, AHEAD reflects our vision of a future where people affected by cancer can access meaningful support, maintain their dignity and face the financial impact of cancer with greater hope.
