Our Work

The Amara Centre works to reduce the financial hardship caused by cancer through financial support, advocacy and awareness.

A cancer diagnosis can bring significant financial and emotional pressures, often from the very beginning. Alongside medical appointments and treatment, people may face additional costs, reduced income, uncertainty and other challenges at a time when their focus should be on their health, treatment and recovery.

Our work responds to the financial pressures that can accompany cancer, recognising that the challenges people face can differ depending on their circumstances and needs.

Through financial support, advocacy and awareness, we seek to address some of the barriers that can make the experience of cancer harder, while using lived experience to inform our work and help ensure that the financial impact of cancer remains visible.

Our work is guided by our commitment to compassion, dignity, hope and integrity, with programmes developed to respond to the needs of people affected by cancer.
